Expert consulting services to take your college entrance experience to the next level
At Excellent Alliance Education Consulting Firm, our story began with a passion for helping potential college students succeed. In 1992, at the age of 18 and just after graduating high school, I was thrilled to be accepted into Northeastern University in Boston, Massachusetts. With only $90 in my bank account, an $800 scholarship, a new comforter set, a radio, and a few personal belongings, I prepared to leave my home in Connecticut for this exciting new chapter. My parents, proud and supportive, drove me to campus, marking a milestone as they accompanied their second oldest child to college.
Upon arriving, the campus was bustling with cars and families dropping off students. After attending orientation together, parents were asked to say their goodbyes. My mom and dad made sure I was stocked with fruits, crackers, and a case of water before heading back to Connecticut. I was ready to begin my journey as an independent adult, majoring in elementary education with a minor in psychology.
However, within days, the initial excitement of college life began to fade. My limited snacks were running low, and I received a call from the financial aid office informing me that my tuition, room, and board had not been fully covered. The stress of my financial situation weighed heavily on me. I searched tirelessly for a job on campus but had no success. Fortunately, my roommate from Ohio, who was the third in her family to attend college, explained that meals were covered by my tuition and I just needed to show my student identification. This small relief eased my immediate worry about food but didn’t solve the larger financial issues.
The pressure became overwhelming, and I eventually fell ill. The campus health clinic determined that I was too unwell to remain at school and contacted my parents. They came to take me home, and together, my father and I filed for a medical withdrawal. Unfortunately, I never returned to Northeastern University.
This experience shaped my deep commitment to ensuring that no student or adult faces the challenges I did during their college journey. At Excellent Alliance, our mission is to provide comprehensive support to guide individuals through the entire process—from college entry to graduation—ensuring they never feel unsupported or fall through the cracks.
